33. Screaming Lord Sutch and Heavy Friends – L-O-N-D-O-N (1970)

While the Hallowe’en season is still upon us, why don’t we have one more track from the inimitable Screaming Lord Sutch: “L-O-N-D-O-N.”

No mistaking this for the Folk Baroque.

Sutch was a bit of a maniac, if you hadn’t gathered that already — he clearly had Alice Cooper’s schtick down long before Vince Furnier started dressing like a zombie Bette Davis and biting the heads off of chickens.

When he reached his early 40s, however, Sutch decided to take something of a more serious path in life, and so he turned from his career in music to a new career in politics, and formed the Official Monster Raving Loony Party. The OMRLP regularly runs candidates in British elections, and has even been known to win a few (although nothing at the national level).

A primary source of inspiration for the OMRLP was the classic Monty Python sketch “Election Night Special” — and if you haven’t seen that, perhaps you should.

Vote Lord Sutch

By name alone I would consider joining the Official Monster Raving Loony Party.

(Thought I’d make a comment to let you know how much I’m enjoying this.)

Woah, Lord Sutch looks kind of like Colby.
